چکیده
Abstract The Mediterranean mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forest of Moarda (Palermo) was affected by a large wildfire in summer 2020. In spring 2021, burned unburned loam soil sites were sampled the water drop penetration time (WDPT) ethanol percentage (EP) tests applied to assess influence wetting-drying processes content on post-fire repellency (SWR) as well its vertical distribution. According WDPT test, surface layer natural soils severely hydrophobic at intermediate contents roughly corresponding wilting point SWR reduced either for very dry conditions (air- or oven-dried conditions) wetter close field capacity. For these soils, EP test yielded results agreement with WDPT. An wetting/drying cycle detected as, given content, generally higher drying than wetting process. always wettable independently content. distribution modified maximum hydrophobicity layer, that located moved depth 2–4 cm sites. confirmed can induce destruction naturally occurring create shallow may increase overland flow erosion risk.

Temporal changes in soil aggregates and water erosion after a wildfire in a Mediterranean pine forest
The evolution of soil structure after a forest fire was studied on two zones representatives of a typical Mediterranean Pine forest. These zones were in opposite slope orientation but with similar topographical and pedological characteristics. Changes in soil macro-aggregation and water stable micro-aggregation were monitored seasonally during a year after the fire. The water erosion patterns w...
متن کاملan investigation of the occurrence and intensity of soil water repellency in talesh forest sites, guilan province
the occurrence of soil water repellency and its intensity were studied in three sites under pinus teada, petrocarya fraxinifolia and sombucus ebulus in talesh township, western part of guilan province. seventy nine undisturbed soil samples from 0–5 cm depth were collected for water repellency and water-soil contact angle to be determined in a dry season. soil water repellency was assessed using...
متن کاملFractal behavior of soil water storage at multiple depths
Spatiotemporal behavior of soil water is essential to understand the science of hydrodynamics. Data intensive measurement of surface soil water using remote sensing has established that the spatial variability of soil water can be described using the principle of self-similarity (scaling properties) or fractal theory. This information can be used in determining land management practices provide...
متن کاملAssessing Relation of Soil Hydrophobicity and Soil Water Content and Determining Threshold Moisture of Organic Soil Samples
Soil water content is the most effective factor associated with the hydrophobic and hydrophilic changes in a soil. Water repellency in soils, is not a permanent feature; it can be reached in the dry season and reduced or eliminated in the wet season It can be said that in terms of moisture, there is a critical region that is defined as the threshold moisture content, where in lower moisture, th...
